IREM Japan Sends Delegation to San Diego
When Joe and Tina - Sunrise Management’s principals – were asked to host 30 delegates from IREM (Japan) last month, they were flattered to learn the JPMA’s president had specifically asked to learn how Sunrise works.
With a domestic industry typically considered to be 20 years behind US standards, the Japanese representatives hoped to learn from the attitudes of the Sunrise team. What they got was perhaps a bit more than they had bargained for – a day that was truly eye-opening, providing a chance to glimpse their future.
“Our visitors wished to emulate an American property management firm, and believed Sunrise to be an excellent representative of the way residential property should be managed.” says Tina West of the situation. “It’s not every day that we’re asked to be a global role model.”
Given the structure of IREM, this request actually made a good deal of sense. The organization’s 18,000+ members have typically shared their professionalism and vast experience in an effort to help each other’s business grow. Just not usually in this manner.
The Sunrise team presented substantial parcels of information – corporate philosophies, marketing strategies, technical issues and financial reporting. Specific properties were examined, with accomplishments dissected in search of ways for the visitors to be able to duplicate each success.
But something more came from the day – MUCH more. What started out as a goodwill gesture ended with the potential for new overseas alliances being formed.
And the feelings were obviously mutual, as Tina learned upon receiving this note from one of her newest friends:
Hello Tina,
What a thorough presentation you and your staff gave to the JPMA delegation on May 14th! Mrs. Kitazawa, president of the JPMA and the head of the delegation, and the rest of the delegation, were all quite impressed with your organization and professionalism. Your enthusiastic message of “Get involved !” not only on the job, but in the community as well was very clear as a key to the success in life in general. We could have easily spent another few hours at Sunrise Management’s office. Also, thank you for bag-full of the goodies.
Our subsequent visit to Mexico was interesting and educational - though it was brief.
I hope we have another chance to visit the San Diego area and your office and hear your wonderful presentation again in the near future. We will be sure to allocate more time then.
