Meet Regional Maintenance Director Marty Barassi
With over 20 years of experience in the property management industry, Marty Barassi is the best friend any property owner can have.
As coordinator of Sunrise’s startlingly popular Dream Green campaign, Marty is the guy we turn to ensure that all corporate programs – green or otherwise – are implemented quickly, efficiently, economically, and right the first time.
He’s never let us down.
Tasked with supporting all stages of property maintenance (including preventative, corrective, deferred, and emergency repairs), Marty has spent much of his career finding clever ways to preserve client assets without breaking the bank. And with over 9,000 units at 200 communities to watch over, you can believe he’s a busy guy.
“For me, the biggest challenge is to make it look easy.” Marty says. A California native and SDSU graduate, Marty sees his role as part field-hand, part college instructor. “I’m supervising a small army of skilled vendors, construction departments and on-site teams to eliminate problems before they begin.” he reports “That’s why I can’t ever shy away from rolling up my sleeves and doing whatever needs to be done. I’ll swing a hammer, I’ll grab some trash – property maintenance is all-important, and who’s doing it doesn’t matter.”
Even more important than his availability to do physical labor, though, is his ever-ready spirit for sharing his wisdom. And with two decades of solid know-how under his belt, you can believe there’s plenty to share. Marty’s attitude says it all; “A well-trained worker is the strongest asset I can provide to our owners.”
“Things can sometimes get a little touchy out in the field. But no matter what happens, my guys are on-site with a great attitude and solutions the client never even thought possible.”
Which is why, whether he’s inspecting property, reviewing an owner’s business plan, attending a meeting of the San Diego County Apartment Association, or mentoring maintenance staff members, Marty can be counted to lend his expertise and time to help those around him do their jobs better.
Holder of numerous certifications in a variety of specialties, including Universal HVAC; OSHA Safety Training; Contractor/Supervisor Asbestos Training; and CPO, Marty also serves as Safety Coordinator for Sunrise Management.
Our Maintenance Chief is an inspiring leader in his field, designing and teaching maintenance classes for industry students. “I see us as being in the problem-prevention business.” he smiles. Then he’s off to develop yet another asset preservation plan “My third one today!” he calls.
