From The Corner Office – What 2009 Holds In Store
Tina West, COO, Sunrise Management
Anyone who’s been paying attention knows the year we’ve just completed has been a tough one for our industry. We’ve seen one implosion after another, and it’s been like watching a slow-motion train wreck. Financial collapse, foreclosure and unemployment all threaten a gloomy 2009 to the economy at large.
More than ever, our crystal ball is focused on the importance of the basics in property management. We see how critical it is to deliver flawless execution, over the top customer service, and for every property management firm to be on top of their game. “There is no room for resting on our laurels” observed one of our newer clients this past week – a sentiment we could not have put better ourselves.
To ensure we’re delivering the highest quality services at every stage of the residential building management process, we at Sunrise Management keep our daily focus on resident retention, innovative promotion, unparalleled service, and preventing details from slipping through the cracks.
The keys to our success, and that of every community we’re affiliated with, are our 30 years of experience, our insistence on going that extra step, and the people we put into place from top to bottom. Our ability to focus on ways to increase NOI by maintaining occupancy, controlling inventory and expenses, and finding efficiencies in energy, administration and contract management, are all critical to our ongoing strategy of driving up every community’s NOI.
We add to NOI results with a comprehensive marketing and training program, delivering a team that ensures the proper tools are in place and that every need will be anticipated to help a property and its owner reach each year’s goal.
This strategy is then rounded out by our use of technology for online leasing, payments, bookkeeping, and customer relationship management. Tied in with our economies of scale, Sunrise is able to deliver some of the most cost-effective services to be found anywhere.
The prudent use of appropriate technology also helps every Sunrise Management team member to maximize the hours of the day, and assures you that every professional skill you need is available, when and where you need it.
Combining the foreseeable pain on the economic horizon with the potential cost of lost opportunity, we anticipate more property owners taking a long-term view of their business and partnering with the stability, experience and results that only come from a property management firm like Sunrise.
Furthermore, going into the new year, we know, as you do, that clear consistent customer relations are critical to long-term business growth. You have my personal pledge that Sunrise will always be there to handle whatever property management challenges you may encounter.
As you review your plans for 2009 and beyond, I’d like to invite you to learn how the Sunrise team can help you further improve your position in the marketplace. And if there’s ever a question of any sort, I’d appreciate it if you let me know personally. It helps if you have a friend at the top, after all.
From all of us here on the Sunrise Management Team, a happy and healthy holiday season. We want to help make 2009 as successful as you wish it to be.
