Profitable Affordable Housing
Affordable housing is typically viewed as less desirable than more traditional housing. Not so at Shirley Heights! Entrusted to Sunrise Management since 1978 by the CA Housing Finance Agency, this may be the most profitable affordable housing complex in the country – and a huge success by anyone’s standards!
The fact is we’ve spent the past 20 years making Shirley Heights an example for the rest of the Affordable Housing community to follow. Our team of professionals coordinate closely to provide a safe haven for families determined to provide a drug-free, crime-free zone for their kids.
And with all 34 units being 4-bedroom homes, you can bet there have been a LOT of kids running around this property over the years. Families at Shirley Heights typically each have 3-5 children.
Being brought up in a supportive atmosphere has given these young people the boost they need to enter an otherwise harsh world. Education, connections and opportunity have consistently followed. Degrees at some of the nation’s top universities have been earned. Doctors, lawyers, and engineers have unfailingly returned to the old homestead, with an eye towards how they can help those coming up behind them.
Shirley Heights has proven to us the truth of the adage that looks can be deceiving. We at Sunrise are proud to know our efforts have not only run an excellent property for so long, but that we’ve helped improve so many lives, even as we’ve been successful stewards for taxpayer dollars.
