Putting Sustainability Into Action

Intense water limits are about to be imposed throughout the southwest. Talk of global warming is all but impossible to avoid.

In an effort to stay ahead of the curve, the Sunrise team has been installing green systems at every turn.

For example, a brief tour of Scripps Terrace (in Scripps Ranch, CA) would show a solar system on the pool (eliminating the gas heater); retrofitted lighting (inside and out) in collaboration with SDG&E; 1.28 gallon toilets; low-flow shower and sprinkler heads; aerators on sinks; energy efficient washers and dryers; and water regulators to ensure water pressure doesn’t go over 75 lbs. PSI.

Here and elsewhere other efforts are being made, too, to minimize the carbon footprint of properties Sunrise manages. Some of our energies have gone into:

  • Exploring a satellite weather tracking irrigation system (which shuts off the irrigation when it’s about to rain);

  • Examining landscapes with the City of San Diego and, where appropriate, installing native and/or drought resistant plants;

  • Maximizing efficiency of central air conditioning units;

  • Lowering water heaters to a maximum of 130°;

  • Improving weather proofing of doors and windows.

Conveniently located in the prestigious Scripps Ranch School District, this garden style community offers spacious two bedroom, two bathroom apartment homes. Close to major freeways, shopping, dining and entertainment, this cozy courtyard community features fully equipped kitchens, central air and heat, plush new Berber carpet, walk-in closets, private patio for first floor apartment homes, and brush nickel fixtures – all in some of the most environmentally-friendly units to be found in southern California.

And because of ongoing efforts from every member of the Sunrise team, this little corner of the world is a little greener and our residents are living a bit better.

It’s well worth the visit to see how it all works together. Come join us sometime for a tour.
