Drought Status
Kudos to the gang at Ecolife Consulting for speaking with all water departments in San Diego this past week. Their goal: tracking down the drought status currently in San Diego and rumors of water and sewer rate increases.
Here’s what they learned…
Carlsbad Municipal Water District
Waiting on Metropolitan Water District for rate increase.
City of Del Mar
Proposed increase for July 1st 2009 (meeting on May 26th to determine increase)
City of Escondido
Rate increased as of February 1st 2009
Fallbrook Public Utility District
Definite rate increase starting July 1st 2009 (To be determined in June)
Helix Water District
Have proposed increase for July 1st (Prop 218 on their website)
Lakeside Water District
Waiting on Metropolitan Water District for increases
City of National City
No proposed increase, will only increase if pushed to a Level 2 Drought
City of Oceanside
No info on water rate increases
Olivenhain Municipal Water District
Increase started March 1st
Otay Water District
January 1st increase of 12.4% and another increase to be determined effective September 1st
Padre Dam Municipal Water District
July 1st proposed increase (Prop 218 on website)
City of Poway
Proposed increase (To be determined at April 21st city council meeting)
Rainbow Municipal Water District
September increase of 19% still to be finalized
Ramona Municipal Water District
Proposed increase for July 1st (To be determined by April 24th)
Rincon Del Diablo Municipal Water District
Proposed increase of between 20-34% (To be determined by April 24th)
City of San Diego
Scheduled rate increase for sewer May 1st 2009 of 7% and water July 1st of 6.5%
San Dieguito Water District

Santa Fe Irrigation District

South Bay Irrigation District
No proposed increase, will only increase if pushed to a Level 2 Drought
Vallecitos Water District
Increased February 1st (will only increase if Level 2 Drought)
Valley Center Municipal Water District
Increased January 1st (Proposed rate increase for September of 25%)
